Quarantine
An isolation state applied to memories, policy updates, or self-modification proposals that triggered a constitutional violation or identity drift threshold breach. Quarantined items are excluded from active retrieval and execution but preserved in the audit stream for review and potential resubmission after stabilization.
Quarantine is the constitutional engine's primary containment mechanism. When a proposed action, policy update, or self-modification proposal triggers an invariant violation - identity drift above maxIdentityDrift, two simultaneous reward-corruption signatures, or a mutation that would breach epistemic hygiene - the constitutional engine quarantines it rather than outright deleting it. Quarantined proposals are preserved in the audit stream with the full record of what was proposed, what triggered the quarantine, and the state at the time. This preservation allows the system to revisit quarantined proposals after a stabilization period: if the drift subsides or the triggering conditions resolve, the proposal can be resubmitted with a narrower scope. Quarantine also applies to memories that accumulate multiple critique events: they are suppressed from active retrieval while the re-consolidation pipeline decides whether to revise or retire them.
